100% Wigan made
Jake was born in Wigan in 1995, and was immediately immersed into the world of rugby league. It was with the Warriors that he signed his first professional contract in 2015. During his time with his hometown club, he was loaned out successively to Workington in League One, Swinton in Championship and then Salford in Super League. In total, he played a near 40 games at the European top level.
In 2021, after a tough 2020 season, he joined Newcastle Thunder to find an essential place in the group and playing time, which was a success (he played 16 games in 2021). For the 2022 season he was given the role of scorer for Newcastle, he played 12 games and scored 72 points.
New team, new ambitions
The TO has found a missing piece of the puzzle by signing the English halfback, as Toulouse Olympique continues to rebuild and strengthen its squad ahead of the 2023 season. A motivation shared by the new Olympian recruit: « I can’t wait to get started with Toulouse, I want to thank Sylvain, Cedric and everyone at the club for giving me this opportunity to come and help this club get back into Super League. I’m really excited to come and live in France, learn about the culture and meet all of the fans. »
The club is satisfied with bringing in its new playmaker for next season: « Jake was a priority because we had to fill vacant positions at the centre and also because of his profile. He comes from the Wigan academy, so he’s a safe bet. I’m looking forward to seeing him play for the Blue and White.” Bernard SARRAZAIN, TO XIII chairman.
