A young Tongan in trial period at the TO

Kalausa Junior LEHA, a young player (22 years of age) from the Southern Hemisphere, is currently on a 3 weeks trial period with the League One side of the Toulouse Olympique XIII. He attended his very first training with the group this Tuesday (10/05).

Born in Auckland (New Zeland) from a tongan family, the one who goes by the nickname of “Kala” grew up in Sydney. He discovered Rugby League at the age of 8, and made his debut with the Wentworthville Magpies, which is a club renowned in New South Wales for the quality of its formation.

At 12, he was scooted by the club of Parramatta (NRL) and has played with the Eels’ team until his 19th birthday. Then, he signed in another prestigious NRL club, the Cronulla Sharks, where he took part in the intense Holden Cup (under 20 competition of the NRL franchises).

Willing to get a new experience, he decided last summer to come to France and try the fifteen man code, under the U21 team of Aurillac (Pro D2). But he was missing Rugby League and with the 2015/2016 season now over, he knocked at the TO’s door to see if he could play some footy with the club.

This multi-skilled forward is powerful and explosive and shows some great skills, especially with the ball in hands. Some attacking qualities that would strengthen the “blue and white” group, if his trial period is successful. Kalausa has three weeks to convince Syvain HOULES and its staff.
